You may find yourself already trying a couple of stop snoring devices and products but to no avail. This does not mean that such products do not work. It may just be a "misdiagnosis" of the root cause. Basically this misleads us and we wind up resorting to certain solutions that were not fit for the condition in the first place.
People would generally like to go for easy solutions. If they do not work, then we have to some other effort that may often be life-changing. For example, it may suddenly feel awkward to breathe through your nostrils during the night when for the longest time, you have been breathing through the mouth. Then there is the more difficult decision to quit smoking or drinking alcohol. Nothing could be more lifestyle altering. Sadly though, nothing comes out easy. We often have to toil first in order for things to come fall into place especially when we expect changes to happen.
You may have already considered surgery, medications or dental implants. It basically boils down to a matter of preference and no one should restrict you from getting the best procedure in order to achieve your desired goal. However, these options often cost you big time. Add to this the fact that surgeries to arrest severe snoring are often not covered by insurance.
There is no fixed way in dealing with snoring. It occasionally becomes a matter of trial and error before one can actually arrive at a possible cure for the condition. However, if one were to look at the bigger picture, there are some basic methods that have been found effective in relieving snoring, some of which may actually be of benefit.
You may have been advised by someone some time in your life to stop smoking and drinking. You can be rest assured that stopping these two little vices indeed is effective in reducing violent snoring.
Snoring is caused by any sort of blockage within the throat, mouth and the nose. So basically it follows that relief would mean removing whatever blocks these parts. While this is the basic idea, it might actually turn out to be harder to find a specific cure for your condition because there are still a lot of other contributing factors that may also be causes of the vibration in the throat. However the end cure should always be to get rid of the blockage or clear some space in the throat.
Surgeries aimed at curing snoring have the same basic objective, and that is to remove the blockage by either cutting off some tissues around the throat and the mouth that are believed to causing the obstruction. And then there are also pills that can cause the air passages to open up. Be careful though in using medication since most can cause unwanted side effects. It is always wise to seek some sort of professional advice before attempting to use over-the-counter pills.
There are also a number of devices and products that are designed specifically to induce relief from snoring. Some of them may have funny names (ever heard of the snoring ball?) but their usefulness is specifically for the relief of excessive snoring.
Nasal strips, chin straps, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Appliances (CPAP), dental and oral appliances, adjustable beds, and stop-snoring sprays are only some of the many choices you may consider. Their purpose is either to keep your tongue from falling back or to widen the air passages so as to avoid the collapse of certain muscles.
You just need to take some time and be patient in finding the right product for you. Some trial-and-error may actually be required. Just research, evaluate and talk to others who suffer the same condition before you finally decide on a product that suits you best.
